Meet Fr. Marvin Klaers

Father Marvin Klaers was born in in Loretto, MN, the middle of a family of five children. He enjoyed his high school years  at  Nazareth Hall in Roseville, MN. From high school, Fr. Klaers went right into the seminary and was ordained on June 3rd, 1950.

Some of his more notable assignments have been in Springfield, Shokapee, Hampton, East St. Paul, downtown St. Paul, Miesville & New Trier. His most recent assignment was in St. Paul where he was chaplain at a cancer home.
He retired this summer in Waterville where he could, “get into the country.” Unfortunately, however, while moving into his new home, he broke his right arm. For several months he couldn’t unpack, say Mass, or do much of anything! He is delighted to be active again. We are delighted, too, Father. Thank you for bringing the Mass to us!

From Fr. Brown

Father Brown called this week in order to extend a personal thank you to everyone from Nativity and Marysburg. He is deeply appreciative of all the prayers and cards and feels that, all things considered, he is doing really well! He said, “Be sure to say Thanks to everyone!”

Following is from his  Caring Bridge web page, October 10:

Dear Family and Friends,

I want to let you know how grateful I am for all your help. Starting with  my sister Margie and her family for all they have done.  Also Hope Lodge that serves patients undergoing radiation and chemo treatments was an inspiration.

I've been at home since Saturday October 3rd and on my own since Wednesday October 7th.

I still have frequent appointments in Rochester.  They are trying to get my voice back.  Some nerves and muscles were injured during surgery and radiation.  A fungal infection was also found in this area.  Due to my limited ability to speak short visits will be necessary.

I have one advantage that I don't have to do any cooking, but waiting for my tube feeding challenges my patience.
As I have been recovering from radiation your prayers, good wishes on this site and the hundreds of cards have been sheer joy.  My spirits could not be better.  I do not know another time when offering mass, praying to Divine Office, and psalms have meant more to me as they do now. Keep the prayers coming.
